Pregnant with expansive love and enormous rage
Her mother’s womb was bloated and swollen
With an urgency rising, but still stuck inside
Where might this fetus find liberation and justice?
Dark in the fertile, dank soil
This singular seed erupted
Breaking apart her tiny shell
Bursting forth with volcanic vibrations
“Beware!” whispered the protective subterranean beasts
“Lest you be eaten by the evil ones”
(“I don’t quite believe in evil ones, do you?” she wondered)
“Nevertheless, Caution!”
“Prepare to face the most difficult part of
Your soul’s journey, germinating here
On Planet Earth with all its bounty
And all its incredible cruelty
Especially that of human beings
Sure you want to wander into this massive mess?
This ongoing crisis between peoples
Countries, oceans, deserts with
Wildfires, hurricanes, drought, and wars
Are you certain?”
“Too late!” young Kali quipped
“I am here now
I was born in a state of
Revolutionary Grace
Bring it on
Let’s do this!”
