A Tale about Sophia and Yemojah

Sacred Sophia, Divine Feminine, Web of Life

You planted me inside a cosmic golden egg

Deep inside your womb

To incubate and protect me

One day to give birth to me.

On top of Gaia’s earthen surface

I grew inside your fertile soil.

One day, a kind armadillo, named Anna

Trotted toward me

Making a nest around me, then

Rising above me, facing me, she

Spread herself out on top of me

Her belly on top of my belly

Covering my body, throat, neck and face with

Her strong, sturdy, and steady armor as

We breathed together for oh so long a time.

Anna protected the many vital parts of

My vulnerable, fragile fetal self.

Then, Anna pushed me a little deeper

Into the loose fertile soil and

The trees and grass fed me

Rain poured down upon me

Allowing its delicate waters

To surround me, giving me life.

The mycelial network held me

Germinating a web, a veil, a membrane

All around me and through me

Sharing minerals and nutrients

From Mother Earth and from other living energies

Full of glittering light and bounty.

I grew up and flourished eagerly with

Anna's armor on top of my most

Tender parts: skin, heart, blood.

My soul had to find ways to squeeze in to enter

This vessel, to express herself expansively

Oozing through the umbilical cord in my soft belly

Where she lay claim to this human body.

As I developed

My soul and my body engaged, deeply connected

Openly, willingly, and freely and

When it was time for me to be fully awakened

Sacred Sophia, the Divine Feminine

Gently picked up Anna's armadillo shell from on

Top of my beating heart and chest while

Three large, female jungle cats joined in and began

Licking me all over with rough, tranquil tongues

Removing the mycelial network away from me

Slurping the mucosal tangles and

Topsoil from around me so that I could emerge

While being birthed into the ancient, alluring air.

The flames of the sun brilliantly danced above me.

The moon and the cosmos sang and chanted and

I began to breathe with my own lungs.

Leaving the womb as human

I felt separate, alone and frightened

I needed another living being

Beside me to comfort and hold me.

My left hand reached out and I

Immediately felt her black, furry back

The Leopard Goddess, Yemojah

Guided me silently into a

Dark cave of rich and sparkly blackness.

(Anna and Yemojah continued to use their

Strong, long claws and teeth

Whenever I needed to be

Protected from predators or from any danger.)

A sublime spring fed a sacred stream

Within the cave and I drank thirstily

From the holy waters offered to me.

Then, Yemojah left my side temporarily while

Simultaneously a bright white horse rose up

From the cave floor between my legs

Lifting me up so he could move

Underneath me, carrying me calmly.

We headed slowly toward

The gleaming white light of the sun

Glaring through a large hole in the cave

Where the magical stream became a gorgeous

Waterfall flowing powerfully

Emanating from the cave's opening.

As the white horse leapt on top of

The gushing waterfall

His full wings emerged quickly and

He flew me up into the skies

Beautiful blue bliss and white clouds greeted me

For what seemed like the very first time.

Pegasus, the horse, flew me safely

From place to place throughout time and space

Allowing me to experience endlessly intriguing

Landscapes, dynamics, and vibrating energies of life

Sacred journeys of all sorts, bringing frolic and

Laughter, sorrow, sadness and joy.

Later returning me home from my adventures

Back to the waterfall, leading into the cave

Pegasus drank from the cave’s stream.

I wandered into the sparkling darkness

Easily and quickly met by the black panther, Yemojah.

I stepped into the stream and

Bathed my sensitive and sassy skin

Washing off all presence of the world’s grit

Stress and tragedy from my body.

Then, I rose out of the water

Gleaming like a shiny, wet dolphin

Sleek and slick while still being human.

I meandered over to Yemojah and

Curled up beside her

Feeling deeply and safely held and loved

Sleeping for an eternally vast amount of time on top of a

Bed of pine straw and crumpled leaves

Dreaming and delighting in amazing life experiences

Between birth and death and

Birth again.

Continuously evolving and

Constantly awakening day after day

Sometimes in one form and

Sometimes in another

Abundantly nurtured and fed

Protected and loved
