The Queen's Sword

Slicing through the tangles of knotted hair

Selecting straying strands to chop off

Severing words with a mighty pen

Soaking the scars with brushstrokes of

Watercolors developed by

The Divine Artist

The Queen’s Sword

Her instrument of choice

The Spider weaves her web

Not to be torn asunder or endangered

By humans, amazed at her daily rituals

Her mystical arrangements

Her lovely lines and beautiful shapes

Designed to capture her prey

We cut through the clues of

Personal sovereignty

Grasping for written instructions that

Fall from the handbook into raging waters

Re-membering by heart, recalling

The details for transformation

Splintering the myths of time

Clipping off the nodules formed

By dis-ease or despair

Paring down the fleshy skin

That hangs loosely to alter

Aging, distracting from

The wisdom of her elderly Body

The Mystic creates and activates her Soul

In all its glory and amazement

This Soul who has been hiding for years

Wondering when we will come find her

Notice her, view her, bursting with joy

And some distress about how

We live our human lives

Knowing we learn by trial and error

Sad that some mistakes are

So tragically and carelessly enacted

The Sword gleams in her golden sheath

Too risky to touch for fear of disaster

The Queen picks up the Blade

Beheading the withered traditions of old

Fostering new growth, sproutings where

Antique authority has been removed

Watering and tending our gardens

Scythe and shovel alike

Mowing and partitioning off

The mature sections of grass from

The wild, ravenous weeds

We rejoice in throwing wildflower seeds

Into breezes that hold them aloft

Until they land and anchor onto the earth

We water and nurture our plantings and

We mourn the losses of tradition knowing that

They had to be destroyed

Before the new rains of hope and peace

Can wash over our sunny gardens along with

New patterns of physics and

Sacred geometry, the quantum field

Where innocent lambs and tendrils

Wrap their arms and legs around

Each other while being born anew

Wild Peace

Shimmering

Rippling

Vibrating

No you or me

No separation

Between each other

And the Divine

This is Wild Peace

Peace which needs no understanding

Wildness beyond measure

Allowing the spirit of Grace

To move within, outside,

And all around us

The rhythm of Wild Peace

Is the bass line

The heartbeat inside us

And throughout the universe

Strumming strongly yet gently

Always present underneath

All other sacrificial sounds

While chaos enacts its dynamics

Disturbing our resilient calm

We witness, we watch our world

We may even participate

By dipping our toes

Into the playground of humanity

And then, diving in and throughout

Past humanity’s edge

Farther into the deep, hallowed

Waters of our souls and into

Sacred Space and Time

Bubbling all around us

We breathe, we sprint

To be at-one-with

To be inside the circle

Rainbows of light

Expanding from the cosmos

All the way down

Into our moon tides

Into our wiggling toes

We reach out

Drawing down the bright white deep

Receiving these gifts

That set us on fire

We explode into

Stardust once again

Shedding our skins

Entering the New World

In different forms and shapes

Energies being born

Transformed

Awakened

Ecstatic

A Surrender

Counting the days until I got

What I wanted

What I have so desired

Is that pride and lust I smell
Under my armpits?

Here it is, all dressed up

In a pretty little package

My dream, my fantasy

Shrink wrapped in a box

Needing to be sliced out of

Its plastic so it can breathe

Opening and expanding

I rejoice

With a guttural Aha!

Stoking the ego

Chasing the craving

Believing in paradise

Not so fast!

The Divine Mystery exclaimed

Who do you think you are?
You think you deserve this little

Slice of Heaven on earth?
Why?

Sheepishly and nervously

I answered:

I played by the rules

I acted generous at times

I tried to love

Everyone as best I knew how

(Even though part of my

Performances were make-believe)

Why can’t I continue to

Believe in my good fortune

My being blessed and lucky

Am I so wrong?

YES! She shouted whirling around

Creating a vicious tornado

For a human being you have done OK

But, being a person, you still lack

The qualities, the polish, the chutzpa of

An energy smarter, more accomplished

More divine, like me

Did you think I would let you get away with this?

I suppose not, I responded, sadly

What are the tasks, the challenges

I must perform to beg you to

Let me have what I want?

I will even pray

No deal!  She screamed

In a piercing and ear-splitting roar

I am not a broker, no deal maker

With the likes of you

I am here to show you

How to Let Go

To Surrender

I will take everything you

Have seemed to cherish

Away from you

In a violent  and tragic tsunami

Have you heard about

The hurricane coming, the

Storm surge that

Wreaks havoc with

People’s dreams and lives?

Oh, no, I gasp, hysterically

I thought I could avoid that!

My last conscious action before I was

Knocked down, gruesomely and

Horribly destroyed (and transformed)

Was

Releasing my grip

Relaxing my arthritic

Fingers that

Clenched so long and so tightly to

All parts of this life

I kept a straight face though

Wanting to appear as courageous and brave

As I could be, not wanting to appear weak

Then came the thunders

The lightnings

The flooding

The final releasing of

My greatest grasp on

This reality

That I made up

No longer could I hold on

No longer could I deny to myself

The Truth

Letting go of my dreams

My very human yearnings

(Like that I will live through this)

I finally gave up, gave in

Relaxed and floated while

The tide pulled me out to sea

Somehow, without effort

Avoiding every projective missile

Thrown toward me

Then I saw Her in the deepest waters

Knowingly and gently smiling at me

Now that I knew who was boss

I hugged Her so fiercely

I didn’t want to let Her go

She swam away, easily, laughingly

Teaching me

A pure relationship

Between all beings

And the Divine

Peace spread out

A beautiful space

Inside me

Absolute surrender

I was free at last

For a time
