The Blessings

Blessed are they who speak out against injustice

Blessed are they who act in just and fair ways

Blessed are those who seek out health and well-being for all

Blessed are those who love and are open to be loved

Blessed are they who share themselves with others

Blessed are they who give without needing reward

Blessed are those who support all people and all living beings

Blessed are those who strive to improve the health of our planet

When fear, anger, resentment and disappointment reign

We act out impulsively in rage without thinking

When we feel insecure, or feel like we don’t belong

We sometimes find attention however we can get it

Or, we close up so tightly inside ourselves

That we disappear for a long moment

Tending to our own wounds, licking our injuries

Until we feel healthier, stronger, more able

To work for the improvement of all that we see

To hear, love and hate, smell and taste

When we hate, we feel monstrous inside

When we love, we sprinkle sparkles all around

Keeping our own heads above water

Helps us do for others, do for ourselves

Break the news to the world that we are available

To hold, to shelter, to feed and to love

Blessed are the ones who feel little shame

When they act lovingly with the greatest of ease

Blessed are the ones who carry the guilt, the worthlessness

Embarrassment, hypocrisy, gloom, and grief

For the rest of us

May no one harm others with their actions even though

They are miserable or furious about life itself

Let them be swept up into the oracles, far away into the cosmos

Let them rise without taking our children with them

Let there be compassion and kindness when people are suffering

Let there be less judgment when any living being is in pain

Let those leaders who are full of greed and need for authoritarian rule

Be turned out to pasture immediately, banished from society

No more races to be run

No more promises to break

No more violence to be enacted

Let them eat grass, wander the meadows, and rest

Blessing us all
